Struggling National First Division outfit Baroka FC will be hoping to return to winning ways this weekend when they host University of Pretoria (AmaTuks) at the Mafori Mphahlele Stadium in Lebowakgomo.
The encounter marks the seventh game of the season for both sides, who have endured difficult starts to their campaigns.
Baroka, based in Seleteng, have managed just one win and one draw from their opening six matches, suffering four defeats in the process. They currently sit 12th on the log with four points.
AmaTuks, on the other hand, have yet to register a victory this season, having drawn all six of their fixtures. Despite their winless run, they occupy 11th place on the table with six points, just two ahead of their weekend opponents.
A victory for Baroka would see them leapfrog AmaTuks into 11th position, easing the growing pressure on the team and their technical staff. The club has made its intentions clear this season — to challenge for promotion or at least secure a playoff spot, ambitions emphasized during the unveiling of their new sponsor, Mafori Group, earlier this year.
With home advantage and a strong desire to turn their fortunes around, Baroka will be banking on their fans’ support to inspire a much-needed victory and reignite their campaign.
