Serial rapist and murderer, Mothupi Tau.
The Mayor of Maruleng Local Municipality, Councillor Tsheko Musolwa, has welcomed the heavy sentence handed down to serial rapist and murderer Mothupi Tau.
The Polokwane High Court convicted and sentenced Tau to three terms of life imprisonment for the rape and murder of Hellen Malepe and her daughter, Kgaugelo.
Mayor Musolwa says the sentence sends a strong and decisive message to anyone who may be involved in acts of rape, murder or sexual assault.
“We commend the police for working tirelessly and thoroughly investigating this case. We hope the Malepe family will now find closure knowing that the person responsible for such horrific crimes will spend the rest of his life behind bars.”
The Mayor added that the sentence serves as a firm warning:
“This sentence will send a clear message to all those who intend to commit crimes against women and children — the long arm of the law will always catch up with them.”
