ABC Motsepe League defending champions Mpheni Defenders are gearing up for a high-stakes clash against Venda rivals TTM this Saturday at the Makhado Showground, determined to avenge their recent 1–0 defeat in the Nedbank Cup.
In that Cup encounter, Mpheni struggled to break down TTM’s deep defensive block, a tactical approach that frustrated their usually free-flowing attack. However, head coach Zungu Nkosi insists that this weekend’s league game will be different.
“It’s a new game and a new day,” said Nkosi confidently. “We know our opponents will come into this match full of confidence, but we are ready. All our players are fit, and we’ve worked on every area that could stand in our way. We are doing well in all departments.”
Nkosi’s words reflect the spirit of a team eager to reaffirm their dominance in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League. The Defenders currently sit at the top of the Stream A log with three points, narrowly ahead of Tzaneen United and Phalaborwa United, who also have three points but trail on goal difference.
With both sides hailing from the Venda region, Saturday’s fixture promises to be one of the most intense and entertaining derbies of the season — a true battle for regional bragging rights and early-season momentum.
Kick-off at Makhado Showground is expected to draw a large crowd as local fans anticipate another thrilling chapter in the growing rivalry between Mpheni Defenders and TTM
