Prudence Sekgodiso is all set to make her mark on the global athletics scene. After a phenomenal season that saw her break the South African 800m record in her indoor debut last year.
Sekgodiso is poised to represent South Africa at the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Belgrade, Serbia on 11 February 2026.
Sekgodiso will be making her second appearance at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, and she’s ready to give it her all. Sekgodiso’s impressive performance has already earned her seven national titles, including her first in the women’s 800m at the 2019 championships when she was just 17 years old.
Sekgodiso expressed her excitement and optimism, stating that securing a spot in the finals would be a satisfying achievement as she heads to Serbia full of confidence.
The 23-year-old has developed a strong passion for indoor events and is finding herself enjoying them more than outdoor competitions as she prepares for the upcoming event in China.
“There is no wind, first of all, I just love the atmosphere, spectators are just here in your ear. I just love the track, it’s short and it’s fun,” she added.
