DOLPHINS EMERGE AS SURPRISE CONTENDERS IN ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE STREAM A
By: Refilwe Sebola
The race for promotion in the ABC Motsepe League Stream A has taken an intriguing turn, with The Dolphins FC quietly positioning themselves as potential dark horses following a string of impressive performances.
The Dolphins continued their fine run with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over struggling TTM on Tuesday, a result that propelled them into third place on the standings with 28 points. Their rise has seen them leapfrog Mukondeni Young Chiefs, who now drop to fourth despite being level on points, with goal difference separating the two sides.
Notably, Dolphins still hold a crucial advantage — they have played one game fewer than Young Chiefs, giving them an opportunity to further solidify their position in the coming fixtures.
Earlier in the season, the club played down talk of a title push, insisting they were not in contention for championship honours. However, recent results and current statistics suggest otherwise. With momentum on their side, the possibility of a late surge cannot be ruled out.
The title race, however, remains largely dependent on the performances of frontrunners Mpheni Defenders and Tzaneen United, who occupy the top positions. Should both sides stumble in their remaining six fixtures, and Dolphins maintain a perfect run in their final seven matches, a dramatic twist in the title race could unfold.
Under the guidance of experienced tactician Katlego Mashego, Dolphins have shown discipline, resilience, and tactical maturity — qualities that could prove decisive in the closing stages of the campaign.
Attention now turns to this weekend’s crucial encounter, as Dolphins travel to Phalaborwa to take on Badhuza Celtics.
With confidence growing in the camp and belief spreading among supporters, Dolphins are beginning to dream. And as the old football adage goes — anything is possible.
