Senwamokgope-based outfit FC Rellen are proving unstoppable in the SAFA Hollywoodbets League Baobab Stream this season, opening a commanding lead at the top of the table.
The in-form side currently sits comfortably at the summit with 42 points from 14 matches, holding an impressive eight-point advantage over second-placed Ramaroka Super Aces.
Earlier in the campaign the title race appeared far tighter, with Ramaroka Super Aces trailing by just two points at one stage. However, a dip in form from the chasing pack has allowed FC Rellen to stretch their lead and take firm control of the championship race.
What makes their run even more remarkable is their flawless record. Since the start of the season, FC Rellen have not dropped a single point — winning all 14 of their matches without a draw or defeat. Such consistency has placed them in pole position as the league enters the second round of fixtures.
Unless the Senwamokgope side loses focus, the title appears firmly within their grasp.
At the start of the season, many observers believed that Josy United would be the team most likely to challenge for the crown. The Jamela-based club has historically dominated the Baobab Stream for several seasons. However, their fortunes changed when they were moved to the Molototsi Stream, where they struggled to maintain the same level of dominance.
Now back in the Baobab Stream, Josy United have yet to rediscover their old form. The side currently sits in fourth position, a massive 15 points behind FC Rellen. The situation has been worsened by the loss of several key players who previously formed the backbone of the team.
With Ramaroka Super Aces losing ground and Josy United far off the pace, the title race appears to be FC Rellen’s to lose.
As the league campaign continues, only an extraordinary turnaround from the chasing teams — or a sudden loss of form from the leaders — could prevent FC Rellen from running away with the Baobab Stream crown this season.
