
The Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism Department, hereby reminds every active liquor license holder to renew their licenses within the next seven days as all currently active liquor licenses are to expire on the 31st March 2026.
The renewal period has commenced on the 1st December 2025 and close on 31 March 2026. There will be no grace-period provided post 31st March nor will there be any extensions.
All current license holders who fail to renew in time, will be expected to shut-down business operations, as from the 1st April 2026, such Liquor Restaurants will be considered as an illegal shebeen, anyone found behind the cash point (Till) will be found guilty of selling illegal alcohol within an illegally operating structure (un-licensed) and will be the first to be arrested.
The Department together with the South African Police Service will not discriminate, whether you were a brewery, liquor stores, liquor restaurants, you will all be treated equally regardless of whether your establishment is within a village or City.
You will be raided, arrested, taken to court, found guilty (high possibility), forfeit all liquor to the State and the State will gladly destroy all forfeited liquor. You are advised to renew your licenses before 31 March 2026.
