Newly elected African National Congress Women’s League Norman Mashabane Regional Chairperson, Lettie Nhlangwane.

The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) in Limpopo has successfully concluded its Norman Mashabane Regional Conference.

The event was held under the theme of renewing and transforming women’s emancipation. It resulted in the election of a fresh Regional Executive Committee to lead the organization in the Norman Mashabane Region.

Election of New Officials

The conference delegates elected a group of five top officials to steer the league forward. Lettie Hlangwane was chosen as the Chairperson, supported by Meriam Malatjie as the Deputy Chairperson. The administrative duties will be led by Tsakane Vukeya as Secretary and Mankwana Mohale as Deputy Secretary. Joyce Mahlo was elected to the position of Treasurer.

Beyond the top officials, ten additional members were elected to complete the Regional Executive Committee. These members include Doncy Sejaphala, Sanie Tiba, Maggy Machumele, Anikie Mathaba, Julia Nyathi, Silvia Selowa, Japisa Mathonsi, Judith Baloyi, Sophia Magomane, and Maria Mokgwathi.

A Focus on Unity and Discipline

The ANC Norman Mashabane Region expressed high praise for the conduct of the delegates during the gathering at Karibu Leisure Resort. Leaders noted that the conference was incident free and marked by a clear sense of organizational unity and discipline. This cohesive front is seen as a vital framework for conducting the struggle to reach the goals of the National Democratic Revolution.

The regional leadership believes that a strong and united Women’s League is essential for the broader success of the ANC. By standing together, the league aims to challenge patriarchy, gender based violence, and various forms of social exclusion. This internal strength is also expected to boost the party’s overall performance as it prepares for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Strategic Importance of the Conference

The conclusion of this conference follows a busy period for the ANC in Limpopo. Earlier this month, the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) held its inaugural meeting under the leadership of Provincial Chairperson Dr. Phophi Ramathuba. The PEC has been actively deploying convenors to various regions, including Nakedi Kekana to the Norman Mashabane Region and Gloria Mnisi to the Vhembe Region.

The newly elected Women’s League leadership will now work alongside these provincial structures to organize and service branches. The provincial leadership has emphasized that unity is the fundamental condition for victory. The successful and disciplined conclusion of the Norman Mashabane Regional Conference is viewed as a positive step toward ensuring the movement remains focused on its strategic objectives.

The ANCWL provincial leadership, including Provincial Secretary Tebogo Mamorobela and Spokesperson Marble Kalembo, welcomed the results. They congratulated the new committee and reiterated their commitment to advancing the interests of women across the province.
