After winning the domestic league title, Lebowakgomo Wild Beasts are now eyeing the National Club Championships to be held at Polokwane cricket grounds in August.

The Polokwane cricket ground will be a beehive of activities when the event gets underway for three days from August 27 to 29.

Chepape is upbeat that they will fare pretty well on home soil where they will be playing in front of their home fans.

Texas will be in this tournament solidly entrenched as the reigning champions after winning this title last year in Cape Town.

Chepape says he relishes the resumption of hostility with cross-township rivals, Texas in an inevitable Limpopo derby.

The two are familiar foes who have crossed path myriad times in flagship tournaments and league encounters.

“It’s always great to exchange bats with Texas. They are a great team to play against. Texas have great players in their squad with international experience. Whenever you play against them, you expect a competitive game and they bring out the best in them.

We’re going to dig deep into our arsenal to bring the biggest weaponry to the battlefield. With the depth of experience we have in the team, we are hoping for a top spot,” says Chepape.

Apart from Wild Beasts and Texas, Limpopo will be represented by Seshego Raiders who concluded their league campaign on third position.

Moyahabo Mabeba, the

Head of Marketing and Publicity at LSA says it’s all systems ahead of the national championships.

“Preparations are currently underway to ensure that the event becomes a resounding success. We are currently engaging the provincial Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, the Polokwane municipality, and other relevant stakeholders who are a greater part of this event. It’s going to be a huge event and we intend to make great memories from this edition,” says Mabeba.
