Maria Mokgwathi – Greater Letaba local Municipality Speaker, Dagma Mamanyoha – Executive Mayor Mopani District Municipality and Rosina Ramalatsoa – New Mayor Greater Letaba local Municipality.
The African National Congress in the Norman Mashabane Region has officially named Comrade Dagma Mamanyoha and Comrade Rosina Ramalatso as its mayoral candidates for the Mopani District Municipality and Greater Letaba Local Municipality.
The political movement follows the promotion of former Mopani Executive Mayor Pule Shayi to the Limpopo Provincial Executive Council. Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba recently appointed Shayi as the Member of the Executive Council for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs.
Shayi’s elevation to provincial government created a top vacancy at the district level. The regional leadership moved quickly to reorganize its executive positions to maintain stability and keep local government services running across the region.
Dagma Mamanyoha Stepping Up to Mopani District
Comrade Dagma Mamanyoha has been selected as the candidate to take over the mayoral chain as Executive Mayor of the Mopani District Municipality.
Mamanyoha currently serves as the ANC Norman Mashabane Regional Chairperson. He moves to the district level after serving as the Mayor of Greater Letaba Municipality. As the regional leader, he now takes on the big task of leading the district municipality and guiding its service delivery programmes until 4 November 2026.
Rosina Ramalatso Takes Over at Greater Letaba
With Mamanyoha moving up to lead Mopani District, Comrade Rosina Ramalatso steps in as the candidate to replace him as the Mayor of Greater Letaba Local Municipality.
Ramalatso brings strong experience from both party structures and local municipal management. She served three terms as the Regional Secretary for the ANC Women’s League in the Norman Mashabane Region. She is also familiar with local government operations, having previously served as the Speaker and Chief Whip of the municipal council.
Next Steps for Approval
The decisions were finalized by the Regional Executive Committee officials. The regional leadership will present the names to the Provincial Executive Committee officials on Monday for final ratification.
Once approved by the provincial structures, both candidates will go through formal council processes to assume their new mayoral duties.
