The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Limpopo has successfully rounded up its province wide localized local elections manifesto launches.
The completion of these gatherings marks the Party’s transition into the final home run leading up to election day on 4 November 2026.
As part of this momentum, the SACP Relela Cluster hosted the Lawrence Phokanoka District Manifesto Launch at Mothomeng village in Ward 7. The event brought together activists, workers, and leaders from across the region to rally support for the Party’s independent electoral platform.
Fraternal messages of support were delivered during the launch by various alliance structures and community representatives. Key inputs came from the SACP District Executive Committee, the Young Communist League of South Africa (uFasimba), local Traditional Leadership, and seasoned Party Veterans.
Delivering remarks on behalf of SACP Veterans in the Relela Cluster, Molebatsi Masedi reflected deeply on the history of the Party in the area. Masedi invoked the vibrant presence of the Party immediately following its unbanning in 1990. He openly mourned its decline in local visibility over the years, noting that this lull occurred because the organization focused its primary energy on the ANC instead of building its own independent footprint.
Speaking directly to delegates attending from across the five districts of Limpopo, Masedi reminded them of the immense responsibility they carry on their shoulders. He emphasized that the direct representation of the working class and the poor in municipal councils now rests firmly in their hands.
Masedi delivered a passionate call to action, urging members to protect the legacy of the liberation struggle and stand firm in their principles. “Don’t allow them to kill Comrade Chris Hani again,” Masedi thundered to the cheering crowd.
Adding to the revolutionary calls of the day, the Young Communist League (uFasimba) pledged its total organizational support to the campaign. Representatives of the youth structure made a firm commitment to defend and advance the provisions of the Election Manifesto by any means necessary during voter outreach drives.
SACP Limpopo Provincial Chairperson Percy Ndlala addressed the gathering by breaking down the core commitments of the Party’s campaign platform. Ndlala guided delegates through the SACP Elections Manifesto Six Priorities, which outline the Party’s immediate focus for municipal governance:
*The right of all to work: Prioritizing job creation and public works to address local unemployment.
*Reliable Public Services: Guaranteeing clean water supply, electricity access, and maintained local roads.
*Land, Homes and Food: Unlocking land for housing development and community agricultural projects to ensure food security.
*Safe and caring Communities: Supporting community policing and improving village infrastructure to combat crime.
*No Tender Corruption: Ending the corruption linked to municipal tender systems to safeguard public funds.
*Accountable Councillors: Ensuring public representatives remain directly answerable to the residents they serve.
The manifesto launch concluded on an inspirational note as the deployed Ward and Proportional Representation (PR) Candidates took the stage. The candidates formally pledged their dedication to self service, promising to put the daily needs of their local communities above personal gain.
Following the success of the district launch, the Relela Cluster is moving immediately into field operations. This weekend, local leadership meets to organize and heighten voter outreach efforts across all voting districts ahead of the 4 November 2026 poll.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming Cluster Meeting, Convenor Chairman Molebatsi Masedi confirmed that organizational preparations are progressing rapidly on the ground. He expressed strong confidence in the willingness of voters to support the Party’s independent message.
Masedi stated that both party building and voter outreach are fully on course across the wards, noting that the political environment is ready for real working class leadership. “Communists reclaim the ground,” he said in parting.
