Mashona FC Under-13 team from Ga-Kgapane Township in Greater Letaba Municipality beat Mamelodi Sundowns Under-13 development team 4-0 in a friendly game played in Pretoria Hatfield last weekend.
Lethabo “Zulu” Hlokwe opened the scoring in the 15th minutes with a brilliant goal after he beat the Sundowns back four and the goalkeeper with a brilliant move to place the ball in to the net.
Junior Hlongwane increased the lead towards the dying minutes of the first half following a brilliant one two combination with Sinenkosi Ntuli. His shot on goal beat the goalkeeper hands down. The score board read 2-0 at recess.
In the second half Sinenkosi scored the third goal from outside the box with a well taken short that beat the Sundowns goalkeeper at full stretch.
The final nail in the Sundowns coffin was put by Prodege Tshikombo setup by left back Tumisho Malatji. Tumisho made a great run from the back and supplied a decent cross to protégé who finished with a simple tap in.
Sundowns tried to come back in the second half but their shorts at goal was thwarted by talented goalkeeper Lanny Ramalepe. Eight players from Mashona were selected to join Sundowns development team next year.
