The Limpopo SAFA Provincial Executive Committee has this week issued a letter to all their regional winners informing them of their decision to postpone the inter-regional playoff date from the 22nd and 23rd to next weekend of the 29th and 30th of July.

As usual they pointed to the arbitration matter in the SAFA Capricorn region as the reason for the postponement. “We have noted that the arbitration matter of SAFA Capricorn might not be finalised this week as the notice of set down is not yet out” read the letter.

The procrastination has now taken over a month and even SAFA themselves are galled. In their letter they did state that “the Limpopo competitions committee has taken a resolution that the new date given should be final and that further requests for postponement will not be considered as the matter is now affecting preparations for the new season”.

As much as the delay is also affecting SAFA the truth of the matter is that it is the clubs that will suffer more. Obviously the winners of the playoffs will have to look for players to beef up their squad and at this time finding good players will prove to be a milestone as other teams have already recruited best players. Furthermore, the champs will not have enough time for preseason preparation. Whether SAFA’s decision to finalise next weekend dates will stand or not remains to be seen.
