Coach Oriul Sambo has finally left Giyani Happy Boys for the newly promoted Nkowankowa Continental FC.
The former Applex head coach who was roped in to the ABC Motsepe league stream A runners-up’s technical team early in the new season has officially vacated his post this week after he was rumoured to have done so about a week ago.
He has blamed the newly introduced Co-coaching system utilized by Happy Boys management this season as his reason for leaving the club.
Sambo was working as Co-coach with the experienced soccer legend Mpho Maleka and former Wilson Express mentor Tim Mashele.
Coach “Zero” as Sambo is popularly known to his fans, was ostensibly having discrepancies with his colleagues concerning the coaching philosophy of the club. “This thing of co-coaches in the amateur level doesn’t work. Maybe it can work if one is willing to melt his philosophies, believes and personality. But if one is arrogant and thinks he is bigger than football itself the team will end up suffering” said Sambo, obviously referring to one of the Co-coaches without mentioning names.
“You have to be brave sometimes to be able to stand on your own and if a chance to work at home present itself, it becomes an opportunity to promote and to represent your home boys. It’s ok… It’s fine… he added.
The Dan village born coach has already started training his new club in preparation for the Nedbank Cup preliminary round after the Nkowankowa based club has been without a coach for about a month following the resignation of their head coach Peace Khosa last month. Peace has since joined Tzaneen United.
