The Mayor of the Greater Letaba Municipality, Councillor Dagma Mamanyoga and Chief Pheeha cut the ribbon to mark the official handing over of the Thakgalane Sports Complex to the community.
The Mayor of the Greater Letaba Municipality, Councillor Dagma Mamanyoga assured residents of Thakgalane in Sekgosese of the municipality’s commitment to accelerate service delivery in the area.
He was speaking during a Mayoral Imbizo which was combined with the official handing over of Thakgalane Sports Complex on Tuesday. The purpose of the imbizo was to engage communities regarding the municipality programmes that seek to advance service delivery in the area.
Residents highlighted shortage of water, impassable access roads, high unemployment rate, and a lack of health facilities as some of the key challenges they are grappling with on a daily basis.
The municipality took stock of the issues and concerns raised by communities. Responding to questions and concerns by residents, the Mayor Mamanyoga and the Mopani District Municipality MMC for Instructure Development, Councillor Masilo Maloko assured residents that the municipality working with the district municipality and sector departments will strive to resolve the challenges faced by the community.
The mayor officially handed over Thakgalane Sports Complex to Chief Pheeha and the community as part of the day’s events. The R45 million projects started in 2018.
The available service onsite during the event amongst others included : Home Affairs, South African Social Security Agency, Limpopo Economic Development Environment and Tourism, Limpopo Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, Limpopo Department of Health, Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, South African Revenue Services, Independent Electoral Commission, Eskom, Legal Aid Board, Letaba Tvet College, First National Bank, Old Mutual, AVBOB, Tswelopele Funeral Service and Easy Pay.
