The Champ of Champs Inter Regional Playoffs for Mopani and Sekhukhune will finally take place this weekend after being postponed due to disputes.
In Mopani, the games were delayed due to an appeal case involving Mariveni United and Mokgwathi United, which has now been escalated to arbitration. SAFA in Mopani decided to continue with the normal fixtures this weekend, pending the outcome of the arbitration.
Whoever is favoured by the outcome of arbitration will join the other five winners of their streams in the playoffs to be held at Lulekani Stadium this Saturday and Sunday. The arbitration ruling will be final and cannot be contested except through courts.
In the Sekhukhune region, the final fixture has been announced following the successful resolution of a dispute between Royal Pirates and second-placed MJ United. Royal Pirates were accused of match-fixing in a game they won 33-1, giving them an advantage in goal difference over MJ United, who were on equal points.
After a ruling by the DC, the game was ordered to be replayed last weekend, and Royal Pirates won 4-3, retaining their championship status. MJ United’s team manager, Shadrach Maboke, mentioned that their chairman, Martin Mohlala, decided not to pursue the case any longer.
