The upcoming Maruleng Celtics preseason tournament, featuring ABC Motsepe league clubs, is scheduled to commence this weekend at Mankonko sports ground.

The tournament, organized by Maruleng Celtics, will unfold over the course of Saturday and Sunday. Participating clubs in the top 8 event include the host Maruleng Celtics, Bellevue Winnerspark, Tzaneen United, Nkowankowa Continental, PJ Stars, as well as newcomers Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup and Selwane White Vultures.

The ultimate victors of the tournament will be awarded a grand prize of R20,000, along with a trophy and gold medals. This tournament will provide an invaluable opportunity for the clubs to assess the strength of their teams, particularly their new players, in anticipation of the forthcoming season commencing in October.

The upcoming season of the ABC Motsepe league appears to promise a hotly contested campaign, as most clubs have directed substantial investments into their teams, notably within their technical departments.

Notable coaching appointments include the introduction of the experienced coach Owen Da Gama at Vondwe X1 Bullets and the appointment of Musa “America” Nkondo and Lufuno “Zambrotta” Ndou as coaches for Selwane White Vultures.

Additionally, Bellevue Winnerspark has enlisted the services of charismatic coach Ludwick “Chucks” Raselaya and former Nkowankowa Continental head coach Oruel Sambo as co-coaches.

However “Chucks” is rumoured to have made a return to his former side Lebashe who were beneficiaries of the mass promotion of clubs to the ABC Motsepe League. The new season is poised to commence this month with the Nedbank Cup fixture.
