Winnerspark FC delivered a stunning performance against their opponents, Maruleng Celtics, clinching a 2-1 victory in an ABC Motsepe League match at Xikokwana Stadium last Saturday.
Remarkably, this triumph came without their head coach, Joel Mongalo, who was absent due to an alleged court case in his home village, and assistant coach Isaac “Wacko” Senyolo, who was attending to arrangements for his late mother’s burial.
With their regular coaches unavailable, the management brought in an experienced coach from the Hollywood Bets League in Venda to direct the team from the bench.
This victory marked Winnerspark’s second win in their last seven games, showcasing their potential for a strong turnaround after a challenging start to the season. They began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss to Mpheni Defenders at home but quickly rebounded with a 2-1 victory over Black Leopards. Despite facing setbacks with three consecutive defeats—a 1-0 loss away to Vultures, followed by 1-0 and 2-1 losses to Tzaneen United and Nkowankowa Continental, respectively—they managed to secure a valuable 0-0 draw against the unpredictable Munaca.
Currently positioned in 9th place with 7 points after seven matches, Winnerspark is on the rise and eager to build on their momentum. This weekend, they will host Owen Da Gama’s Vondwe XI Bullets at Xikokwana Stadium in Giyani, with both coaches expected to return to the bench and lead their team to further victories. Kick of is at 15h00.
