Learners with their school shoes
The Member of Parliament Mr Ronnie Moroatshehla is on the Back to School in the Greater Letaba local municipality area, to support schools as they embark on the 2023 school year.
His Back to School Campaign follows one led by the Premier of Limpopo Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and his Provincial Executive Council on the reopening of the 2023 school year which saw them traverse all the five districts in the province, and when the province has scored an over 5% improvement in the 2022 National Senior Certificate Examination Results.
According to Moroatshehla, the programme is part of the on-going monitoring of the re-opening of schools and school readiness by the Parliamentary Constituency offices across the country.
Member of Parliament Moroatshehla accompanied by Ward 8 Councillor Maake in Greater Letaba municipality, Mopani East district manager Dr Sono, newly appointed circuit manager of Rakwadu One Radzuma M.T, SGB of Sefahone primary school, chairperson of Greater Letaba ANC sub region Samuel Mothomogolo, SADTU leader Ledile Ntsoane, PEU leader Terresia Mamorobela, Rapitsi Traditional Authority and other community structures embarked on a programme of handing over school shoes to needy learners under Sekgosese Constituency Office in Greater Letaba.
Addressing the first group of beneficiaries and the broad school community of Sefahone primary school, Moroatshehla said what they were handing over was “the bit and the little they could arrange and organise to improve the lives of the kids and the entire community at large.”
Moroatshehla further said Ward Councillors working together can harness their standing in the community and with other stakeholders to mobilise resources to alleviate the plight of the needy and poor.
Earlier today, Member of Parliament Moroatshehla’s entourage was at Khudugane secondary school in the Sekgosese area on the same mission to encourage learners to work harder and to hand over school shoes to needy learners.
In the context of the three challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment, the handing over of school shoes is a welcome relief to needy learners and their parents.
Moroatshehla is a veteran leader who has made his mark locally, provincially and nationally through the teacher trade union SADTU and trade union federation COSATU. He served both structures up to national level, when in 2019 was plucked to serve as a member of the National Assembly in Cape Town, where he serves in the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education and the Constitutional Review Committee.
He served in the Ad Hoc Committee to Initiate and Introduce Legislation Amending Section 25 of the Constitution on Land Appropriation without Compensation.
Moroatshehla is a Member of the Modjadji Royal Council where he speaks for both the Royal Family and Council.
