Limpopo Barbados have produced a remarkable display during the 2026 edition of the Telkom Netball League.

EVEN though the mist of time hasn’t dampened the spirit of the 2026 edition of the Telkom Netball League (TNL); a brief review confirms an upward trajectory for Limpopo Baobabs side.

Under the tutelage of coach Emily Mathosa, the Baobabs finished the Power Week in the top four with 3 wins and 2 draws from 7 matches.

Mathosa says it was a “strong statement of intent” after a slow start, and they closed the leg with a dominant 64-41 win over Northern Cape Diamonds.

Power Week at Ellis Park in May was gritty: The ladies from the nrorth played to a 48-48 stalemate vs Mpumalanga Sunbirds beat Eastern Cape Comets 55-50; and a narrow 47-44 loss to Tshukudu.

The Baobabs registered a resounding 67-34 victory over Sonoblom-

They team suffered a slender 58-57 loss to Western Cape Tornado but managed to stage a comeback with a 53-51 win over vs Limpopo Lilies and a magnificent display during a 54-43 win over Kingdom Queens.

Mathosa stuck with her starting seven for most of the Sunbirds game, saying the team “showed character in tight moments”.

She says; “The girls showed character of resilience when it mattered most. It was a demanding assignment that required total commitment from the first whistle. The competition tested our defense; our wingers; center court and attackers but they managed to absorb the pressure throughout.”

The Baobabs are now cemented in Division One after winning the Division Two Shield.
