Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba is bringing her special Service Delivery Week to the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality.
The program will run from 06 to 10 July 2026. This visit is part of a plan to check on government projects and fix problems with how services are delivered to the people of the area.
This visit follows a successful Service Delivery Week held in June at the Mogalakwena Local Municipality. Mogalakwena had previously been placed under administration for failing to meet its constitutional duties to the community. Premier Ramathuba is now extending this effort to Ba-Phalaborwa to ensure that other municipalities in the province are also performing at their best.
The Premier will not be working alone.
She will be joined by her team of Members of the Executive Council. The Executive Mayor of the Mopani District and the Mayor of Ba-Phalaborwa will also take part. They will be supported by experts from state-owned companies. These include groups like ESKOM for electricity, Road Agency Limpopo for transport, and Lepelle Northern Water for water services. Together, these leaders and experts aim to provide real answers and firm promises to solve the service delivery problems that have troubled the region.
This effort follows a government approach called the District Development Model. This model brings different parts of the government together so they can plan and spend money more effectively. Instead of working in separate groups, the government departments work as one team to solve problems. This approach also includes the private sector, labour unions, and local traditional leaders. By working together, they hope to stop duplication and make sure that resources reach the communities that need them most.
During the week, the Premier and her team will visit various project sites across the municipality. They want to see for themselves what is working and what is not. By visiting these sites, they can better understand the gaps in infrastructure and governance.
The week will finish with an open meeting where the Premier will talk directly with the community and other local leaders. This session is a key part of the plan to hear the concerns of the people and explain the steps the government will take to improve their lives.
The provincial government believes that this visit will help improve the situation for residents. By looking at financial and governance issues, the Premier hopes to set the area on a better path. This is part of a larger, ongoing effort across Limpopo to make sure that the government is responsive and truly serves the needs of its citizens. The programme begins at 10:00 on Monday morning.
