ABC Motsepe League outfit Tzaneen United will play their home matches at Calvin Louis Moagi Stadium in Maruleng from the start of the 2026/27 season, ending the club’s stay at Nkowankowa Stadium.

The former Limpopo ABC Motsepe League Stream B champions have confirmed the move as they prepare for the new campaign, with the league set to kick off in October.

The stadium is currently undergoing minor finishing touches, including grass cutting and final pitch preparations, but the club remains confident it will be ready in time for the start of the season.

Supporters’ coordinator Isaac Mainetja says there are no concerns over the venue’s readiness.

«”The stadium will be ready by the time the league starts in October,” Mainetja told Mopani Times.»

The move has been welcomed by Tzaneen United supporters, many of whom had been forced to travel to Nkowankowa Stadium and Malamulele Stadium to watch the club’s home matches in recent seasons.

With the club now set to play in Maruleng, supporters believe more fans will be able to attend matches without the burden of long-distance travel.

Mainetja also expressed his appreciation to Maruleng Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Tsheko Calais Musolwa for facilitating the move.

«”We would like to thank the Executive Mayor, Cllr Tsheko Calais Musolwa, for making it possible for the team to finally play at home,” he said.»

Nicknamed the “Slaughter House” by the club’s supporters, the Calvin Louis Moagi Stadium—also known locally as the Showground—will get its first taste of competitive football when it hosts Tzaneen United’s annual Dukes Annual Tournament from 29 August to 6 September. The tournament will serve as the club’s final preparations before the start of the ABC Motsepe League campaign.

For Tzaneen United, the move represents more than just a change of venue. It marks a long-awaited homecoming, with the club hoping to turn the Slaughter House into a fortress in their quest for promotion.
