Vutomi Mathebula was described as a loving and ever-smiling soul whose death has left her family shell-shocked.
As the nation battles with the possibility of a serial killer on the loose in Kempton Part in the Ekurhuleni area, the family of the Limpopo woman has expressed shock and dismay.
Vutomi Mathebula’s decomposed body is amongst those found dumped in the area.
The 28 year-old from Homu 14-A in Giyani was reported missing in March and her family received calls demanding ransom.
Her mother, Emma Mathebula, described her daughter as a friendly, respectful and disciplined person who was always smiling.
She said, “Vutomi was supportive and took care of her child. When heard the devastating news, the whole family was devastated and shell-shocked. Her death has left a huge vacuum in our hearts but we are relieved that her remains had eventually been found.”
Family spokesperson Tiyiselani Maringa said preparations were underway for Mathebula’s memorial service, which will be held on Wednesday.
“She will be laid to rest on Thursday at Homu 14-A in Giyani, with the family expecting a large number of people to attend the burial.”
The family is now appealing for donations of food items to assist with the funeral arrangements. Mathebula’s death brings an end to months of uncertainty after she disappeared in March, while her family continued searching for answers and received ransom demands before her remains were discovered in Kempton Park.
