The Member of Parliament attached to the Modjadjiskloof Constituency Office, Ronnie Moroatshehla, spent his Easter Monday on road safety duty, manning a roadblock at the Mooketsi way bridge in Greater Letaba.

Moroatshehla was accompanied by the African National Congress Greater Letaba Sub regional secretary, Rito Baloyi, who is also a member of the executive committee in the local municipality.

The roadblock realised the impoundment of thirty un-roadworthy vehicles. Twenty-eight minibus taxis and two buses were impounded, and released on the payment of spot fines. These were some of the deterrents meted out to traffic offenders during the day-long campaign.

Moroatshehla and Baloyi expressed happiness with the roadblock and the traffic fines meted out to transgressors as deterrents for the general disregard for traffic regulations. As traffic volumes increased after the Easter long weekend and on the eve of the reopening of schools, Moroatshehla called on road users to obey traffic regulations. Traffic Officers on duty expressed heartfelt appreciation for the presence and support of the two leaders.

The MEC of Transport and Community Safety Florence Radzilani and Members of the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Road Safety were also all over the province, for the Easter Road Safety Campaign.

Main roads in the province experienced high volumes of traffic as the St Engenas Zion Christian Church hosted its first Easter Pilgrimage since the devastating Covid-19 pandemic. Minister of Transport Sindisiwe Chikunga this morning, Tuesday 11 April, predicted higher road fatalities based on statistics coming from the long weekend.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, accompanied by the Limpopo ANC provincial leadership and some Ministers, on Sunday attended the church service at the St Engenas Zion Christian Church at Zion City, Moria, and was received with enthusiasm by thousands of congregants.
