Football players who are destined for greatness usually manifest by winning awards and breaking records very early in their career.
The same can be said of Blessing Mahasha of Ga-kgapane township in Bolobedu. The 19 year-old Jomo Cosmos midfielder who is used to winning awards since the age of twelve recently added to his cabinet the 2022/23 Cosmos best young Player award in his first season with the senior club.
He was nominated as the recipient of the award by the one and only Jomo Sono himself which tells a lot about his quality. Jomo is famous for his ability to spot a gem from a distance.
The experienced former Bafana Bafana mentor was quoted earlier this year praising Blessing’s positive contribution to the Cosmos team in the ABC Motsepe league.
“Blessing is a good player. Don’t be fooled by his short height and body size he tackles bigger players with ease. With more experience he has the potential to be as great a player as the likes of the late Sizwe Motaung and Lucky Mhlathi” he said.
The young defensive midfielder who was promoted from the under twenty-three Cosmos team in the beginning of the season said he was very happy that his hard work was recognized by his colleagues and the coaches. “I am happy to have won the award because it shows just how hard I work on and off the pitch. It has motivated me to work even harder. I am also happy that my hard work is being recognised by my colleagues and coaches” he said
