Ladies soccer lovers will have to wait for next weekend to watch their favourite soccer clubs in action following the postponement of the Provincial Sasol Women soccer league games this weekend.

SAFA decided to postpone the games due to the SAB league’s Inter-regional playoff games scheduled to take place this weekend at Nkowankowa stadium. “The Sasol league games will not take place this weekend as the province will be having playoffs in Nkowankowa and 20 Match officials will be there for both days.

This will allow developing referees who are officiating in Sasol games a chance to experience the inter-regional play offs” reads the SAFA letter to the clubs.

The recess came at a time when there is a heated contest for top spot on the log between three top teams, Sisters of Nwamitwa, Two for joy of Njelele and Rodadau of Vuwani in Venda.

The three clubs are at 30 points each on the log with only six games left. Sisters are currently leading the log with better goal difference followed by Two for Joy who have a game in hand.

Third placed Rodadau were at some point on top of the log. In the bottom of the log three teams are fighting to avoid relegation. The three teams are Phomolong Ladies who are number three from the bottom with only four points from 11 games, Masakhona Liberty Experience and Merwe United Ladies are tottering at the bottom of the log with only two points without a win in 11 games.

It is not yet clear at the moment how many teams will be relegated from the league this season as the verdict concerning the matter is still pending.
