Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya.

Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya on Monday welcomed back teachers and the administration staff ahead of the opening on Wednesday. Teachers in over 3 700 schools in the Province returned to work on Monday after a long festive break. The teachers and staff members use the two days to prepare for the return of learners and to induct the new learners at the reception phase and those going to grade 8.

According to the department, all the schools received their stationery before the end of 2023 and the nutrition programme is expected to resume on Wednesday for all the qualifying schools.

The MEC Lerule-Ramakganya says the preparations will ensure that learning and teaching starts on the first day of the school calendar.

“We want the teachers to hit the ground running on Wednesday when learners return to school. We want them to maximise time in class and not worry about administration when they are supposed to be teaching. Educators are our frontliners and we will afford them the necessary support to ensure that there is improvement across all grades” says MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya

Lerule-Ramakganya is urging parents and guardians who have relocated to Limpopo or moved to a different district to make use of the allocated two days to secure space for their children. Late appeals with regret letters will be dealt with from Wednesday when schools reopen.

The province will release the 2023 matric results on Friday at the Ranch Hotel outside Polokwane.
