Muhluri Hlatshwayo, a talented netball player from Malamulele in Limpopo Province, has taken the sport by storm with her impressive skills and determination.
Her journey to success is a testament to the transformative power of sports, which has bridged socio-economic divides, unlocked her potential, and propelled her toward a brighter future.
Hlatshwayo’s journey to success is a testament to the transformative power of sports. From humble beginnings, she has risen to become one of South Africa’s most prolific netball players, surpassing over 1500 goals scored in both the Telkom Netball League and Varsity Netball from 2022-2024.
Her remarkable stats have earned her a spot in the Malaysian netball team, where she has made an indelible mark, scoring 186 goals in just four weeks.
Behind Hlatshwayo’s success lies the guidance and support of her University of Johannesburg (UJ) coach, Bongiwe Msomi. “Coach Bongi has been instrumental in my development as a player,” Hlatshwayo acknowledges. “She believed in me and taught me everything I know about netball today.” The impact of Msomi’s mentorship is evident in Hlatshwayo’s remarkable progress, a true reflection of the power of effective coaching and mentorship.
As Hlatshwayo continues to soar in her netball career, she encourages aspiring netballers to work hard, seek guidance from experienced coaches, and believe in themselves. “Believe in yourself and your abilities,” she advises.
