
Limpopo ANC Youth League Conference Delegates.
The eleventh Limpopo ANC Youth League (ANCYL) Congress kicked off at Polokwane’s Jack Botes Hall at the weekend, rallying young leaders to tackle youth challenges and shape South Africa’s future. Key figures like ANC Provincial Secretary Musanda Madadzhe and ANCYL President Collen Malatji stressed the need for unity, education, and youth-driven solutions.
The congress saw a handover from outgoing leaders Tony Rachuene (now MEC for Public Works) and Oliver Mabunda to a fresh leadership team: Chairperson: Cde Faith Sebopela; Deputy Chairperson: Cde Frans Motupa; Secretary Cde Phineas “Boko” Sebola; Deputy Secretary: Cde Frans Kgole andTreasurer: Cde Dr. Muvhuso Maimela
The Norman Mashabane Region bolstered the newly elected PEC with four additions: Cde Letheba Raolane; Cde Sheena Shikwambana; Cde Aeesha Ndwambe and Cde Lesiba Selowa
Delegates adopted bold plans to empower youth:Push for five youth MECs in Limpopo’s government; Create youth directorates in municipalities in government departments and restructure the NYDA; Launch the Sandra Baloyi Trust and demand a public apology from YCL for counter-revolutionary accusations against the ANCYL President; Fight drug abuse, expand tech education, and build 3 new universities in Sekhukhune, Mopani, and Waterberg and transform Polokwane into a metro and move youth offices away from mayors’ control.
ANCYL President Collen Malatji urged’ Reject “Bishops”: Youth must lead conferences, not older elites with money/power, prioritize education: Skills are critical for economic transformation and Aim higher: Pursue roles like CFOs, DGs, and HODs to drive change.
New Chairperson Sebopela vowed to fight for economic freedom, praising delegates’ discipline. The congress closed with plans to finalize unresolved issues at a follow-up conference, cementing the ANCYL’s push for youth-led progress.
