Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality Mayor, Councillor Merriam Malatji, celebrated her birthday on February 3, in a unique and heartwarming way, whereby she embarked on a day-long outreach program to bring joy and support to those in need.

The Mayor Malatji’s outreach program kicked off at Honeyville in Makhushane, where she handed over essential food items to the community. She was accompanied by a team of councillors, who shared her passion for giving back.

The entourage then visited the Mmapula Day Care Centre, where they distributed food items and clothes to the children. This gesture was part of the municipality’s efforts to support early childhood development enhancement programs.

Malatji emphasized the importance of investing in the cognitive development of children at a young age, saying, “We do this as part of our contribution to the battles for cognitive development of our children at this early stage.”

The day was filled with music, dance, and performances, but most importantly, it was about giving back to the community.
