ABC Motsepe league stream B league log
By: Refilwe Sebola
Dolphins FC continue to lead Group B of the ABC Motsepe League despite mounting pressure from second-placed Mighty FC.
The Bochum-based club currently tops the log with 41 points from 17 games, holding a four-point advantage over Mighty FC, who sit on 37 points with the same number of matches played.
The two title contenders faced off in early March, with their clash ending in a goalless draw. Since then, Dolphins have secured back-to-back victories, edging out Eleven Fast Tigers 1-0 before thrashing Tubatse United 7-1 to maintain their lead.
Mighty FC, on the other hand, have also remained consistent, defeating Royal Pirates 1-0 in a hard-fought match and cruising to a 3-0 win against Mokopane PJ Stars.
With only five games remaining, both teams must aim for maximum points—especially Dolphins, who have the advantage but cannot afford any slip-ups.
Dolphins’ Remaining Fixtures
Dolphins will face P & S Academy at home this Friday, followed by matches against Mohlabile United, Lebash Football Academy (April 11), and Mokopane PJ Stars (April 25).
Their first-round results against these teams suggest they are well-positioned to secure the championship. They previously defeated P & S Academy 2-0 away, Lebash 1-0, and PJ Stars 2-0, while drawing 1-1 with Mohlabile at home.
Mighty FC’s Tough Run-In: Mighty FC, however, face a tougher schedule, with most of their remaining matches being away fixtures. Their only home game is against Tubatse United next week, whom they defeated 3-1 in the first round. Their away fixtures include Eleven Fast Tigers (whom they edged 3-2), Sunrise (2-1 winners in the first round), and Ditlou—who remain the only team to have beaten them this season with a 1-0 victory.
A Shot at Redemption: If Dolphins win the league, it will mark their second title in three seasons, having previously clinched the championship in 2022/23. However, they will be eager to avoid a repeat of their provincial playoff disappointment, where they lost 1-0 to Mpheni Defenders.
With the finish line in sight, the battle for promotion remains wide open, and both teams will have to be at their best in the coming weeks.
