Medingen’s World Indoor Champion Prudence Sekgodiso , continued her impressive form by claiming the 800m title at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

On Tuesday, June 24, Sekgodiso showcased her exceptional speed and endurance, crossing the finish line in a personal best and meet record time of 1:57.16.

Leading from the start, Sekgodiso demonstrated her dominance in the event. After the second pacemaker dropped out on the back straight, she pulled away from the competition, never looking in trouble. Training partner Oratile Nowe of Botswana and Nigist Getachew of Ethiopia trailed behind, but Nowe made a strong sprint finish to overhaul Getachew and claim second place.

Nowe’s time of 1:57.49 set a new national record for Botswana, while Getachew finished third in 1:58.02. Sekgodiso’s victory not only highlighted her athletic prowess but also solidified her position as a top contender in the world of track and field.

Having placed herself in the international spotlight, Sekgodiso’s  next competition will be the Diamond League meeting in Eugene, Oregon on July 5.

With her sights set on the Diamond League meeting, Sekgodiso will look to build on her momentum and showcase her talent to a global audience.
