Mashimbyi Wandy Nhlahla’s passion for the culinary industry paid off in a big way when she won the coveted “Female Entrepreneur of the Year” award at the Inaugural Limpopo Business Awards.

The ceremony, held on National Women’s Day, August 9, 2025, at Bolivia Lodge, was a celebration of women in business, recognizing their outstanding contributions to innovation, job creation, and community upliftment.

The 30-year-old entrepreneur’s journey to success began with a six-month learnership at Mopani Spar’s confectionery section, where she discovered her passion for baking, Wandy leveraged her newfound skills to launch her own bakery, Vuako Business Solutions, which she operates from her home in Giyani, Homu 14A.

What sets Mashimbyi’s bakery apart from others is her exceptional customer care and appreciation. She goes above and beyond to show gratitude to her loyal customers, offering customized cake specials and rewarding them with free cakes. Moreover, she conducts free baking classes for those who have supported her business, demonstrating her commitment to nurturing a sense of community and reciprocating the love and loyalty she receives from her customers.

When asked about her win, Mashimbyi expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who voted for her, acknowledging the challenges she faced. She was particularly touched by voters who supported her genuinely, despite the voting fee.

“I’m still on cloud nine and it feels surreal,” she said, overcome with emotion. “This award is a monumental milestone for me, and I feel honored to have been a finalist ,” she said.
