Former Sekhukhune United striker Tiklus Thuthlwa has made a remarkable return to professional football after spending months on the sidelines recovering from a serious leg fracture.
The 26-year-old forward suffered the devastating injury while on loan at National First Division (NFD) outfit Venda FC, a blow that threatened to halt his promising career.
Now fully recovered, Thuthlwa has been handed a new lease on life after signing with NFD side Gomora United, a Johannesburg-based club currently sitting 12th on the log with 16 points. Gomora United have had a mixed campaign—drawing seven matches and winning three—but their recent 1–0 victory over seventh-placed Highbury has given the side renewed confidence as they look to climb the standings.
Thuthlwa, affectionately known for his eye for goal and fearless finishing, first rose to prominence at Black Leopards, where he starred for the club’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team before earning promotion to the senior side in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). His performances quickly caught national attention, with rumors linking him to giants Kaizer Chiefs, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most exciting young attackers in the country.
Despite the setback caused by injury, Thuthlwa’s comeback marks a new chapter—one defined by resilience, determination, and an unwavering passion for the sport. Known for scoring spectacular goals, the forward will now look to revive his form and help Gomora United turn their season around.
With his talent and work ethic, many believe this is just the beginning of Thuthlwa’s story of redemption, and his return will surely be watched closely by football lovers across South Africa.
