Tzaneen United FC have stormed back to winning ways after making decisive changes to their technical team, a move that has reignited their championship ambitions and brought renewed belief among supporters.

The club recently parted ways with Swaziland international coach Siyabonga Bhembe, whose tenure was marked by inconsistency despite a promising start to the campaign.

Tzaneen United had begun the season in impressive fashion, winning their early matches convincingly before their momentum stalled following the departure of co-coach Moses Malatji.

Malatji’s exit proved costly, as the team soon slipped into a frustrating run of draws and defeats. His replacement, Kaizer Chiefs legend Humphrey Mlwane, endured a short and difficult spell, leaving the club after only a few games.

Recognising the urgent need for stability and tactical leadership, the Tzaneen United management acted decisively by reinstating former head coach Sonnyboy Zitha and recalling Moses Malatji as his assistant. The move has paid immediate dividends.

Under the experienced duo, the charismatic Lebapola have rediscovered their winning formula, recording two consecutive victories and rapidly closing the gap at the top of the table. Last weekend, they delivered a dominant 2–0 victory over Lebash Academy, following up on their convincing 3–1 triumph against struggling Nkowankowa Continental a week earlier.

These results have propelled Tzaneen United to within just three points of league leaders Mpheni Defenders FC, with both teams having played the same number of matches.

With Mpheni Defenders enduring a series of costly draws in recent weeks, momentum has firmly shifted in favour of Lebapola, who now look poised to seize control of the title race.

The turnaround has injected fresh energy into the squad and revived belief among fans that their star-studded team can deliver silverware. With confidence restored and tactical discipline re-established, Tzaneen United FC are once again genuine championship contenders.

Lebapola is back — and the title race is wide open.
