Nkowankowa Continental FC have taken a significant step toward survival after securing an impressive 3-1 victory over Badhuza Celtics last Saturday, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone in the Hollywoodbets League Baobab Stream.
The Nkowankowa-based side has shown renewed determination in recent weeks, with the latest win moving them to 10th position in the 12-team league standings—now third from the bottom. With 18 matches played and only four games remaining, the battle to avoid relegation is entering a decisive phase.
Their upcoming fixture could prove crucial. Nkowankowa Continental FC will host bottom-of-the-log Lebash Academy at home, in a match that could have major implications at the foot of the table. A victory would not only strengthen their survival hopes but also create a significant gap between themselves and direct relegation rivals.
If they secure maximum points, Nkowankowa could move six points clear of Lebash Academy—pending the outcome of their protest case against Selwane White Vultures, who controversially walked off the pitch following a disputed penalty decision in an earlier encounter.
Should the ruling go in Nkowankowa’s favour, it would further boost their points tally and potentially secure their status in the league for another season.
Meanwhile, defeat for Lebash Academy could deepen their troubles and intensify the relegation battle, dragging them into a direct fight with second-from-bottom Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
With just a handful of matches remaining, every point is proving vital as Nkowankowa Continental FC fight to escape the relegation quagmire and preserve their place in the league.
