ActionSA’s “A-Team” for Limpopo.

Polokwane was buzzing with energy this Saturday as ActionSA took a giant leap forward in its quest to win over Limpopo.

The party held a high profile event to introduce the men and women it believes can fix local government. It was more than just a political gathering; it was a clear sign that the political landscape in the province is changing fast.

The main highlight of the day was the official announcement of mayoral candidates for several key municipalities. Thapelo Molepo was introduced as the candidate to lead the Polokwane Local Municipality. For the Capricorn District Municipality, the party has put forward its own Provincial Chairperson, Victor Mothemela. These announcements were met with loud cheers from supporters who believe that new leadership is the only way to solve the issues of water and jobs.

The list of candidates continued to grow as the event went on. Tonic Manchidi was announced as the mayoral candidate for Makhuduthamaga Municipality, while Shobane Mafona will lead the charge in Molemole. In the Vhembe District, Khwara Nengwekhulu was named the candidate for Collins Chabane Municipality. Each of these leaders has been tasked with bringing the ActionSA vision of service delivery to their local communities.

While many were waiting for news about the Mopani District, the party decided to keep the suspense going. The mayoral candidates for Greater Letaba, Greater Giyani, and Greater Tzaneen will be announced during a special upcoming event. ActionSA President Herman Mashaba plans to visit the Mopani district personally to officially launch these candidates. This shows just how much importance the party places on the Mopani region.

However, the team that will lead the Mopani campaign was officially introduced. It is a group filled with experience and familiar faces. The Mopani ActionSA Elections Team is chaired by Maripe “Mmirwaa” Mangena, the former Tzaneen Mayor who recently made headlines by leaving the ANC. He is joined by Simon Mangena as Secretary. The recruitment side will be handled by Dr. Mikia Ramothwala, another high profile former ANC leader.

ActionSA also sent a strong message by welcoming key former leaders from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). These individuals previously held senior roles in regional and provincial structures. One such leader is Mokwape Lectom Ramalobela, a former EFF Provincial Secretary, who has taken the role of Organising head for the Mopani team. The financial side of the campaign will be managed by Ponani Makhubele.

The event in Polokwane proved that ActionSA is no longer just a newcomer in Limpopo politics. By recruiting seasoned leaders from both the ANC and the EFF, the party is building a broad coalition. They are betting that voters are tired of the old ways and are ready for a professional team that focuses on action rather than talk. As the 2026 Local Government Elections approach, this new “A-Team” is ready to hit the ground running.
