
Limpopo Softball Association will host the 2026 edition of the National Club Championships at Polokwane Cricket Grounds.
THE countdown for the 2026 Softball Association Super National Club Championships have begun in earnest.
The three-day event will be staged at the Polokwane Cricket Grounds from August 27 to 29.
The NCC is the third biggest tournament after the the National Provincial Championships and the SSA Masters hosted traditionally in March and September, respectively.
The country’s premier inter-club festival features top men and women teams that finished their provincial leagues as champions and runners-up.
The hosts, Limpopo will be represented by defending NCC champions, Moletlane Texas, 2026 league winners, Lebowakgomo Wild Beasts and third-placed, Seshego Raiders in the men’scategory.
In the women’s category, the province will represented by Texas, Diphale Blues and Moletjie Cheetahs.
The tournament will also feature outsiders, Makanyane; Tribe Hawks, Titans, Kerstell, Maftown Hyenas and Spartans.
The tourists will be in Limpopo, the traditional home of the ballgame that boasts a huge following, especially in the Capricorn district where the game is deeply entrenched.
The NCC will be played on a round-robin format, culminating to the knockout stages.
Since SSA afforded Limpopo the responsibility to host this mega event, the provincial organising federation, Limpopo Softball Association has been toiling to ensure that the championships becomes a resounding success.
The Local Organising Committee has confirmed that it’s all systems go ahead of the much-anticipated clash of the titans.
LOC chairperson, Benny Boshomane has expressed confidence that the event will meet the demands of the modern-day softballers and spectators.
“We have been working around the clock to ensure that all bases are covered. It’s a huge responsibility and we have dedicated a lot of time, energy and availaeble resources to ensure that everything goes according to plan.
“We have engaged government through the Polokwane Municipality and the provincial Department of Sports, Arts and Culture for capacity. The municipality has allowed us to utilise the fields at the cricket grounds and the department will assist in other areas of operations. We are looking forward to welcoming teams from outside the province, our locals clubs, spectators and guests from government and business sectors. This tournament is an important gathering on our national calendar of events. We’re calling on fanatical fans to come in huge numbers to enjoy great softball here in our province,” says Boshomane.
SSA president Mashilo Matsetela is expected to officially open the tournament on the first day after the morning fixtures.
