Mapaila on Greater Letaba Campaign Trail
By: Serekela Mabeba
With time ticking down toward crucial elections, the South African Communist Party (SACP) is taking its message directly to the streets, homesteads, and village greens of Limpopo.
SACP General Secretary, Comrade Solly Mapaila, is set to lead a high-stakes campaign trail across the Letaba Sub-District in the Lawrence Phokanoka District on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
The intensive door-to-door blitz forms part of the Party’s “Final Push” ahead of the Special Votes taking place on 2 and 3 October, paving the way for the Main Election on 4 October.
Under the banner of “Building People’s Power Where We Live” and rallying around the central theme of “Building a People’s Power for a Better South Africa,” the Red Campaign aims to mobilize workers, youth, and rural communities behind the SACP’s socio-economic vision.
Direct Engagement: A Packed Itinerary Across Wards and Villages
The campaign schedule for General Secretary Mapaila is packed with direct public engagements, community meetings, and strategic courtesy visits designed to reach ordinary citizens where they live and work.
The day will kick off at 10:00 AM in Ward 1, Kethagoni, where Cde Mapaila will launch the local “Know Your Neighborhood” campaign. Local activists, trade union leaders, and community members will join the General Secretary as he walks door-to-door to listen to resident grievances, explain the party’s platform, and encourage community-driven solutions.
At 13:00 PM, the delegation will make a historic stop at the Modjadji Royal House. The visit underscores the SACP’s respect for traditional leadership and its commitment to working hand-in-hand with royal custodians to address socio-economic challenges, land access, and rural development.
Ward 27 Blitz: From Doorsteps to Mass Mobilization
The afternoon campaign focuses heavily on Ward 27 in Greater Letaba Municipality, beginning at 15:30 PM in Rampepe Village. The General Secretary and local cadres will move through the village, meeting families on their doorsteps to discuss pressingly felt issues such as water access, electricity reliability, youth unemployment, and food security.
The team will then proceed directly to Ratjeke Village at 16:30 PM for another round of street-level engagement, meeting farmworkers, pension recipients, and small traders.
The day’s campaign trail will culminate at 17:30 PM with a Mass Meeting in Mamanyoha Village (Ward 27). Cde Solly Mapaila is expected to deliver a keynote political address highlighting the SACP’s core election commitments:
- Land Redistribution & Rural Development: Ensuring rural families and small farmers have access to land to build livelihoods and achieve food security.
- Job Creation & Decent Work: Pushing for state-led infrastructure projects and industrial support to create sustainable jobs for unemployed youth.
- Quality Public Services: Demanding immediate improvement in local service delivery, healthcare facilities, and local schools.
- Building Socialist Resistance: Strengthening grassroots SACP branches to fight corruption, municipal neglect, and corporate exploitation.
Call to Action: “All Comrades Expected to Attend”
District party leadership in the Lawrence Phokanoka District has issued a resounding call to all alliance partners, trade union shop stewards, youth league members, and progressive community organizations to turn out in large numbers.
“Building a stronger SACP is key to securing a brighter future for the working class,” noted the local mobilization team. “We are calling on every comrade and every resident of Letaba to join Cde Solly Mapaila tomorrow. The power to transform our villages and towns lies in building people’s power right where we live.”
With the election just around the corner, tomorrow’s visit is expected to set a high bar for political mobilization across Limpopo, reinforcing the SACP’s stance as a champion of the working-class and rural poor.
