Phuti Motebejane scoring the fourth goal for Tzaneen United.
Tzaneen United’s new coach, Sunnyboy Zitha, inspired the team to clinch their first win In the ABC Motsepe League after they thwarted Eleven Fast Tigers FC 4-1 at Burgerdorp Artificial-Pitch Stadium on Saturday.
United had found life unbearable at third tier as they lost three opening matches and led to management to demote the former Mariveni United head coach, Dodo Tapfumanaye, who had led them to promotion from the South African Football Association (SAFA) Mopani Regional league.
In his first game in charge, Zitha, who was on the stand during their 1-1 draw against Phinnet City described United as tactically unfit to match their opponents which resulted in poor performance.
“Our boys were lacking that tactical awareness of the game, because the last game I was there we saw what we can do, but it’s a work in progress,” said Zitha.
“I told them the honest facts, because in football you have to be physically and mentally strong. What I did is that I had to remind them why they are playing football and why they are in the team. I think they were in comfort zone. Most of players are from the SAB league and this is a new league for them.”
“I think the attitude will change, they will believe in themselves now and the team will be stronger and stronger,” he said.
Mabapola have now moved up in the nine team log to position sixth with three loses, one draw and a win. Their next fixture will be away to Tubatse United FC on Friday 18th, November, Kick-Off at 15:00.
