Limpopo is ready to reclaim the top spot as the tourists destination of choice.
MEC for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Rodgers Monama assured stakeholders during the recent launch of the Summer Campaign at Meloding Lodge, Bela-Bela.
The purpose for the campaign is to convert non-Limpopo visitors including the local Limpopo residents who do not generally travel in the province into regular holiday makers.
He said that the province is more than ready to host guests, tourists and its citizens for the Summer Season.
“It is crucial that we enchant and captivate our citizens as well as international guests as early as now to choose Limpopo as their Summer vacation destination of choice. It has been with great pleasure to witness our people within the province choosing to remain in Limpopo and planning for holidays locally,” said MEC Monama.
The Summer Campaign is a marketing activity undertaken by the Limpopo Tourism Agency to create awareness and market destination Limpopo as the festive season is fast approaching.
“It is important for Limpopo to stand out and be top of mind for prospective tourists as they browse for adventures, romantic, exotic, cultural, wild and fun filled South African Summer destinations, he said.
He explained that much effort is required to recover the limping tourism industry especially, the Limpopo Tourism Industry as it was occupying the number one spot as the preferred domestic tourism destination of choice.
“As we rebuild this key sector, the central objective is to increase domestic tourism trips to the province by creating awareness about destination Limpopo. This is to further create the necessary vibe for local citizens to travel and explore various tourism experiences in the province,” he said
