The Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is gearing up for the highly anticipated Mapungubwe Arts Festival Film and Video Festival to be held at Limpopo Provincial Archives on 19 November and Library Gardens on 20 November.

A flagship programme forms part of the province’s annual celebration of arts, heritage and creative excellence. The Film and Video Festival will shine a spotlight on emerging and established filmmakers whose work reflects the stories, culture and lived experiences of the people.

Through screenings, panel discussions, workshops and networking sessions, the festival aims to empower creatives and strengthen the local film industry, equally broaden opportunities for storytellers.

MEC Funani Jerry Maseko says the festival demonstrates the province’s commitment to elevate the film sector as part of its vision for a vibrant and inclusive creative economy.

“The Mapungubwe Film and Video Festival is not just a showcase of talent; it is an investment in the voices and visions that define who we are. Through this platform, opportunities are created for filmmakers to grow, collaborate and contribute meaningfully to province’s cultural and economic landscape,” said MEC Maseko.

The festival forms part of the broader Mapungubwe Arts Festival programme, which continues to position Limpopo as a hub of artistic innovation during the festive season.
