Vondwe XI Bullets head coach, Musa Nkondo, is filled with confidence as his team stands on the verge of being crowned champions of the ABC Motsepe League Stream A.

This optimism follows a successful appeal against Musina United, which awarded the Bullets an additional three points, elevating them to the top of the table with 45 points from 20 matches.

With two fixtures still pending a decision from the league’s Disciplinary Committee (DC), Bullets lead the standings ahead of second-placed Munaca, who have completed all their matches. The only team that can still challenge for the title is third-placed Mpheni Defenders, currently with 42 points from 20 matches.

The DC has yet to rule on two controversial fixtures between Bullets and Mpheni that were never completed during the season due to claims of poor officiating. Mpheni hopes that the DC will award them the points, which could potentially secure them the title.

However, if replays are ordered, the odds favor the Bullets, who need just a single point to clinch the championship.

Coach Nkondo remains unfazed. “We only need a draw, and even if Mpheni beats us, they would have to win by five goals or more to change the outcome,” he said. “We’ve never lost at our home ground in Makonde. There’s no way they can beat us there.”

Nkondo took over the coaching role from Owen Da Gama, who left for PSL side Magezi, after just eight games this season. Since then, Nkondo has overseen 12 matches without a single defeat, drawing three and conceding only one goal.

With the title race hanging in the balance, all eyes are now on the DC’s final decision, which will determine whether the Stream A trophy will go to Makonde.
