After a year-long absence from professional football, former Premier Soccer League defender Isaac Masia is ready to lace up his boots and return to the field. The 31-year-old center-back, known for his leadership, aerial presence, and occasional goals, last played for Venda FC in the National First Division two seasons ago.
Now fully fit and eager to make an impact once again, Masia states that his time away has only fueled his passion for the game.
“I feel stronger and more focused than ever. I’ve kept myself in good shape, and I believe I still have a lot to offer—whether in the NFD or the PSL,” said Masia.
He built a reputation as a reliable and commanding defender during his time with Black Leopards, where he also served as captain. His performances there earned him a move to the PSL with Maritzburg United, allowing him to showcase his talent and experience at the highest level.Despite his recent absence from club football, Masia insists that he never lost his love for the game and has been training privately to maintain his fitness. “It’s never easy being without a team, especially when football is all you’ve known for most of your life. But I used the time to reflect, recover, and stay ready for any opportunity. Now I’m just waiting for the right door to open,” he added
With a career that spans both top-flight and first division football, Masia brings not only experience but also a proven track record of resilience and leadership—qualities that could be vital for teams looking to strengthen their defense.
As clubs prepare for the new season, the veteran defender is confident that his next chapter in the beautiful game is just around the corner. “All I need is a chance. I’m ready to fight, to lead, and to play my heart out again,” he said.
Whether it’s a return to the NFD or a renewed opportunity in the PSL, Isaac Masia’s comeback story could be one to watch.
