The SAFA-affiliated Frank Moloto Development League, based in Kgapane, is set to host its official prize-awarding ceremony on Saturday, 02 August 2025, at the Kgapane Community Hall, starting at 12:00 PM. This event will celebrate the achievements of young footballers who participated in the league’s most recent season, which focused on youth development in the under-13, under-15, and under-17 categories.
Launched last year, the league was created to develop local football talent within a formal and competitive structure. It attracted teams from Kgapane Township and surrounding villages, with each age group featuring around eight teams. These included:
– TES Development (formerly Tshepo Academy) – Kgapane
– Mashona Development – Kgapane
– Ramohlala Development – Rapitsi Village
– Mokwasele Young Killers
– Mokwasele United
– Life Development – Malematsa
– Goal Busters – Moshakga
– Mozinoni Mighty Boys
– Mamkhize FC – Medingen Village
Winning teams in each age category will receive trophies, gold medals, and a complete soccer kit. Individual awards will also be presented to outstanding players, including top goal scorers and best performers. The league’s vision is to create a sustainable development pipeline for young players, offering them exposure and opportunities to reach higher levels of competition. Last season, one player from the league proudly represented Limpopo in the SAFA U17 Provincial Tournament in Gauteng, while two others were shortlisted for selection into the SAFA National Academy — a project that unfortunately did not materialize as planned. The ceremony is expected to attract important figures in local football, including SAFA Mopani Regional President Mr. Vincent Ramphao and other SAFA officials, who will attend as special guests. In a moment of tribute, the league will also honor Frank Moloto, the local football legend after whom the league is named. Moloto, recognized as a pioneer of youth football in the region, will be acknowledged for his long-standing contributions to the sport and community development.Organizers say this event will not only celebrate the achievements of young athletes but also reaffirm the league’s commitment to nurturing football excellence from the grassroots level.
