Limpopo is preparing to host its first-ever Authors Rally, an event that organisers believe will mark a turning point for the province’s literary community.

The gathering is set to take place on Saturday, 23 August 2025, at the Polokwane Art Museum in the Library Gardens, beginning at 10 o’clock in the morning.

For the first time, published authors and aspiring writers from across the province will come together under one roof to exchange ideas, confront challenges faced in the industry, and celebrate the art of storytelling. Discussions at the rally will centre on themes such as women in writing, author training, injustices faced by writers, the adaptation of books into music, and avenues for author funding.

Event coordinator Matome Ramakgolo described the launch of the rally as a historic step for Limpopo’s writers. “The Limpopo Authors Rally is not just for published authors, but also for aspiring writers who dream of sharing their voices with the world. It is about creating a safe and inclusive space for dialogue, empowerment, and growth. This is a milestone moment for our literary community, and we invite everyone to be part of it,” he said.

Ramakgolo added that the event aims to address persistent struggles facing authors, particularly the lack of financial resources, limited platforms for exposure, and the need for stronger institutional support. He stressed that beyond being a literary celebration, the rally is intended as a call for greater recognition of writers as vital contributors to culture and education in the province.

Literary enthusiasts, writers, students, and members of the public are encouraged to attend the event, which will be open free of charge. Organisers say the launch of the rally is expected to pave the way for an annual tradition that places authors at the heart of Limpopo’s cultural landscape.

The Limpopo Authors Rally 2025 promises to be a landmark occasion, bringing together voices from across the province to inspire, educate, and build a stronger writer community for years to come.
