Moses “Pokker” Malatji is no longer part of the Tzaneen United technical team after failing to return to the club when training resumed in January, effectively bringing his stint with the club to an end.
Malatji temporarily separated from the team in December following an undisclosed disagreement with the club’s management. The separation was initially viewed as a short-term arrangement, as both parties explored the possibility of resolving their differences.
At the time, Tzaneen United chairman Dennus Mafologela indicated that the club remained interested in continuing its working relationship with Malatji. However, the matter was never settled, and Malatji did not report back when the club reopened after the festive season.
In Malatji’s absence, Swaziland international coach Siya, who had been working alongside him, stepped in to take charge of the team. Coach Siya has since overseen two matches, guiding the side to a 1–1 draw against Mukondeni Young Chiefs in December before suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to log leaders Mpheni Defenders earlier this year.
Despite the changes on the technical bench, Tzaneen United remain second on the league standings, keeping themselves well positioned in the title race.
Meanwhile, Malatji is understood to be seeking a new coaching opportunity, with ambitions to continue his career in the ABC Motsepe League or the Hollywoodbets League.
As Tzaneen United move forward under new leadership, Malatji now turns his focus to the next chapter of his coaching journey.
