The Mopani Masters Football League will host its end-of-season awards ceremony at Tzaneen Country Lodge on Saturday, 4 July, where clubs, players and officials will be rewarded for their achievements during the 2025/26 season.
The league, sponsored by the Kgosihadi Foundation, concluded last week with KEC Masters crowned playoff champions after defeating Nkowankowa Masters 1-0 in the final.
League chairperson Moses Mohale said about 300 guests are expected to attend the prestigious event.
“We are expecting players, club officials, sponsors and football stakeholders from across the region. It will be an opportunity to celebrate another successful season of masters football,” said Mohale.
Mohale added that invitations have been extended to Greater Tzaneen Municipality Mayor Cllr Odas Ngobeni and Mopani District Municipality Mayor Cllr Pule Shayi, although their attendance has not yet been confirmed.
KEC Masters will be the biggest financial winners on the day. The club will receive R30 000 for winning the playoffs and an additional R15 000 for finishing top of Stream A, bringing their total earnings to R45 000.
Nkowankowa Masters will receive R20 000 as playoff runners-up and R15 000 for winning Stream B, taking their total prize money to R35 000.
Mohale said a total of eight clubs will receive prize money during the ceremony.
Several individual awards will also be presented, including Player of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season, Defender of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, Coach of the Season, Referee of the Season, as well as awards for the top goalscorers in the over-40 and under-40 categories.
The league is sponsored by the Kgosihadi Foundation, owned by Bishop Moses Malungana, whose continued support has contributed to the growth of masters football in the Mopani region.
The awards ceremony is expected to bring the curtain down on an exciting season that saw clubs compete fiercely for honours across both streams and the playoffs.
