The stage is set for an exciting weekend of football as the South African Football Association’s Hollywoodbets Inter-Regional Playoffs take place on 9-10 August at Mahwelereng Stadium.
Five of Limpopo’s top regional champions will compete for two coveted spots in next season’s ABC Motsepe League Limpopo.
The teams representing the province’s five regions are:
Phalaborwa United from Mopani Region, Makotopong Bahumi from Capricorn Region, Rabali Pull Together from Vhembe Region, Ramatlaohle United from Waterberg Region and Mokganyaka Mighty Blues from Sekhukhune Region.
At the end of the round-robin competition, only the top two teams will secure promotion.
Football fans are buzzing with predictions, and the financially strong Phalaborwa United is widely regarded as the favorite to clinch the top spot. Close behind in the bookmakers’ estimations is the storied Rabali Pull Together, a club with a rich history in Limpopo football. However, in knockout-style tournaments, underdogs often have a way of rewriting the narrative, and all five teams will be eager for victory.
Opening Day Fixtures – Saturday, 9 August
The action will be fast-paced from the first whistle:
At 08:00 Ramatlaohle United will take on Makotopong Bahumi, Rabali Pull Together and Phalaborwa United will battle for three points at 10h00 while Mokganyaka Mighty Blues vs. Ramatlaohle United will take place at 12h00. In the afternoon at 14:00 Makotopong Bahumi will take on Rabali Pull Together while Phalaborwa United vs. Mokganyaka Mighty Blues will play at 16h00.
With pride, promotion, and bragging rights on the line, Mahwelereng Stadium is poised to become the focal point of Limpopo football this weekend. Fans can expect intense regional rivalry, passionate crowds, and unforgettable moments as the dream of playing in the ABC Motsepe League hangs in the balance.
