Tzaneen United have brought back Thabiso Msongelwa as the club steps up preparations for the new season.

The Eastern Cape-born coach is a familiar face at the club, having coached United in the past. He has also had spells with Mpheni Defenders and Mikhado FC.

The experienced coach has wasted little time settling back in, with United already into their pre-season programme, which includes training and trials for new players.

There is also an early competitive test on the horizon, with the club preparing for next weekend’s Nedbank Cup preliminary round.

Msongelwa will work alongside Moses “Pokker” Malatji, who took charge of the team towards the end of last season. The duo will be expected to work together as United shape their squad for the campaign ahead.

The latest development follows an earlier change in plans at the club. United had indicated that Ludwick “Chucks” Raselaya and Thabiso Masinga would come in as co-coaches, but the proposed arrangement eventually fell through.

The club has now opted for a familiar face as it looks to build a competitive team for the new season.

Holding a CAF B Licence, Msongelwa brings experience and technical knowledge to the setup as United prepare for their opening competitive assignment.

With the Nedbank Cup preliminary round just days away, the focus is already on getting the squad ready and identifying the players who can carry United into the new campaign.
